We have received an array of different questions and queries about taking care of your animals during the summer. Whether your companion is a cat, dog, horse etc., this guide is for you! In today’s article, we are going to be sharing our top tips to help you take care of your pets this summer in the best way possible. So, without further ado, let’s get your pet ready for those warm summer days.

Firstly, we must make you aware of the dangers that warm temperatures bring. You must never leave animals in confined spaces such as outbuildings, cars, conservatories, or caravans. Leaving your pet in these conditions could be deadly, so avoid this risk and follow our tips.

You can keep your furry friends safe in the sun by following the tips shared below:

Unlimited access to fresh and cold water, ice cubes are great to place in the bowl to retain the cold-water temperature.

Find a pet-safe sunscreen to use on exposed skin.

Apply some damp and cold towels to the floor for them to lie on.

Check regularly for flystrike, this is key!

Make sure your animal has shade to relax out of the sunlight.

As well as these tips, make sure to consider going for walks either early in the morning or in the late evening. This is mainly for those who own dogs. These will be the coolest points of the day, making it much more pleasant for your dog. Also don’t forget to bring a portable water bottle to keep your pet hydrated while walking.

Another great tip to remember is to regularly brush your pet and wash its fur, this will get rid of excess fur while also keeping their skin and fur germ and bug-free.

Now each animal is different and will require different care routines, but with this guide, you should be good to go.
